These pages contain diplomatic transcriptions of all available manuscripts consulted in the production of our edition. Manuscripts from the British Library and Jesus College, Oxford were not available prior to our April 2013 deadline. We have requested those manuscripts and will add transcriptions of those texts in the summer of 2013.
We have attempted to retain all characteristics of the manuscripts, including certain orthographic characteristics such as: the macron ( ̶ ) which implies that either an “n” or “m” has been left out or that the word should be pronounced with a nasal vowel sound; and the unusual characters yogh (ȝ), thorn (þ), (long “s” (ſ), and double “f” (ff) which we discuss in our editorial policy (“About This Edition”). Due to restrictions of this particular platform, we have been unable to retain some of the traditional methods of transcribing the texts, but we have created alternative ways of distinguishing what occurs within the transcripts. Raised or superscript letters, which indicate that the word was shortened in order to save space, have been put in a much smaller font size so that there is still an obvious difference between them and the rest of the text. We have also noted deletions by using a grey typeface for those words.
